Toolkit FAQ

Questions people ask about the toolkit.

What is the Media Training Toolkit?

The Media Training Toolkit is a free library of seven guides from Jess Todtfeld, a former NBC, ABC, and Fox television producer. Each guide covers one interview format: TV, podcast, radio, print and online articles, remote video tours, social and short-form video, and how to be quoted by AI tools such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Gemini.

Do I have to give my email to read the guides?

No. Every one of the seven guides is open on this site with no opt-in and no paywall. The only thing that asks for an email is the optional set of 10 media training videos.

Which guide should I read first?

Read the guide that matches your next booking. If a TV segment is on the calendar, start with the TV interview tips. If you are going on a show with a microphone and no camera, start with radio and audio. If nothing is booked yet, start with how to be quoted by AI, because that one shapes whether you get asked at all.

How long does each guide take to read?

About five minutes. Each guide is a numbered list of ten tactics, so you can also skim it in the car on the way to the studio.

Who wrote the toolkit?

Jess Todtfeld, founder of Success in Media. He produced more than 5,000 television segments at NBC, ABC, and Fox, has trained over 100,000 people on six continents, and holds the Guinness World Record for the most media interviews given in 24 hours.

Is the toolkit enough, or do I still need media training?

The toolkit teaches you what to do. It cannot tell you how you actually come across, because that takes a camera, a hard question, and someone playing the recording back with you. If the interview genuinely matters, use the guides to prepare and then book a session to rehearse.

Ready for the Real Thing?

The toolkit gets you started. A session with Jess gets it done.
